Red Harvest in Middenmeer
In 2009, we moved to the horticulture centre Agriport A7, located at the head of North Holland. It is home to a number of Westland horticulture entrepreneurs, attracted to the area by the prospects for large-scale production. The cultivation conditions are moreover similar to those in Westland. Moving to Middenmeer afforded us the opportunity to set up a state-of-the-art company for the cultivation of medium-coarse cluster tomatoes. Greenhouses, equipment, energy supply: the company meets all the requirements for efficient production.
Four compartments of 7.5 ha
With the branch currently covering 30 hectares of developed land, each compartment is built on 7.5 hectares to ensure efficiency. Phase 4 is completed in August 2013. That leaves 15 hectares of fallow land for future expansions. All four compartments are designed along the same modern lines: a Venlo greenhouse with 8-metre trellis, 1.67 metre pane size and 6.85 metre crop height.
The greenhouses are equipped with suspended troughs and a pipe rail system. A novelty in the new compartment is the installation of diffused glass, which has demonstrably better properties for tomato cultivation.
